Trees are essential to the climate we live in. Trees bring water and minerals from deep in the earth when they are not available nearer to the surface. This helps to maintain the moisture level and supports plant growth that cannot survive without trees. We need the minerals retrieved by the trees also. There is a general moderation of the climate by the trees blocking the wind that could sweep away the soil and erode our croplands to a desert.
